Problem with smack pack

Hey Guys,

Arrived home on Fri to find “My Awesome NB Goods had arrived.” However, the smack pack was already inflated completely! I didn’t see this as a huge issue, it was still sealed, so It’s currently on my stir plate and appears to be doing well.

The question I have, is that when I looked inside the smack pack, the pouch hadn’t burst…??? So, it is unclear what caused the pack to inflate, without the nutrient pouch…? Has anyone seen this before?

What strain of yeast is it? And, what is the packaging date? Some yeast strains, such as 1056, are prone to swelling the pack. It won’t do any harm. Just make sure the yeast is relatively fresh.
