Possibly not carbonating?

I bottled the NB Spiced Winter Ale from extract kit last Saturday. I just cracked one to see if it was carbonating I got a slight hiss but nothing when I poured and completely flat when tasted. I know it’s only been 6 days but I was expecting more than a slight hiss. I used the NB priming calculator which called for 3.66 oz of corn sugar for 5 gal. I actually went with 4oz because I was afraid of this very problem. It’s been held at about 70F in the dark since bottling.
My questions are:

  1. Should I even be concerned or just wait it out another week?
  2. What are my options if 'm screwed?

Don’t be concerned. The slight hiss shows the yeast are working and your temperature if right. Open another in two weeks after chilling in the refrigerator for two days. You will have more carbonation. In another week after that it should be fully carbonated. Then give it some more time for the flavor and body to fully develop.

Start planning your next one while you patiently wait.

X2…3 weeks is excellent…but I can never wait

My rule of thumb for carbonation: Start with 14 days at 75F then add a day for each degree under 75.

That is just a rule of thumb though… Higher ABV also adds to carbonation time.
