Pitched to cold!

I forgot to check my wort temp before I pitched my yeast yesterday after brewing an IPA with a gravity of 1.060, after looking a vid and I saw the dial temp showing 45 to 50 degrees! I checked the beer this morning and not activity! I’m I dead in the water!

The yeast will take off when the beer warms up…be patient.

+1 to Denny. I turned my freezer on high once to get to pitching temperaure and forgot to reset the temp to fermentation temperature after I pitched yeast. So my ale was @ 40 the next morning. I reset the temp, and everything turned out fine when it warmed up.

Thank you both.

99.9% sure.

I’m 99.8% sure you just got spammed Denny.

I did the same thing a few weeks ago. I could only get my beer down to the high 79 with my chiller and hot Florida water. Plus I had to run to an appointment so I put the carboy in the refrigerator to cool. Took longer than I thought to get back and it was 50 degrees. It went crazy when it hit about 64* (WLP550).
