Thought this was kind of cool to see.
Looks like a HUGE facility.

Looks like a HUGE facility.
That looks lovely.
My home state of Ohio was supposed to get that facility and the 300 plus jobs, dang it! Apparently the state has an archaic 12% ABV cap that drove them off…Stone makes some big beers.
And apparently needs a BIG facility.
I have some relatives in Richmond…they’re so lucky… That looks like it’ll be awesome. Probably more awesome than the brewery in Escondido.
We always avoided Richmond on the way to and from Florida. This might be a game changer. What city lost out on Stone when “One of the sites got kicked out late in the process because we had a guy show up late to a meeting, asking who we were.” ?
Rumor was they were deciding between Columbus, OH or Richmond, VA. Not sure if that is accurate, but we were all having heart palpitations at the prospect.
That is true. Rumor was Stone was going to release a “Columbus only” beer to alleviate the hurt feelings. Not sure where that stands.
Voodoo - you caught me off guard. I had to double check, but…
Current beer alcohol limit in OH is 12%, with a serious movement underway to raise to 21%. I had to check since Brew Dog is putting a facility in Columbus and I couldn’t believe they would limit themselves to 8%. OH raised the limit back in about 2000? to allow OH breweries to better compete in the marketplace. Hopefully, this additional raising will happen.
Jd I don’t see why it’s so limited now. Frankly there’s not a ton of beers on the market that are THAT high. Also, at those costs people aren’t going to buy them to get obliterated, IMHO. If that’s the concern limit the 4.2% beers…
Historically, any of these “limits” don’t work…when I was at OU in Athens we would make a run to West Virginia for grain alcohol/Everclear
Just applied for a job there. We’ll see what happens.
Good luck
I agree. I suspect its just that the loosening of alcohol laws seem to have to progress slowly or they can’t get passed.
