pH questions

An update:

I lowered my strike water using phosphoric acid to about 6. After 8ish minutes of being in the mash, I lowered the overall mash to about 5.4. I also lowered my sparge water to about 6. I used about 3-4 milliliters of acid in total, gathered about 7.5 gallons of wort pre boil. All things went pretty smoothly, I will let you all know how the beer tastes in a few weeks!

So, you lowered the mash AFTER treating your strike water? Sneezles61

I did indeed. Not much was needed in the mash, which was my intention. The less time outside of the pH range, the better imo. I barely needed any in the mash

Next time, try lower the strike water just a bit more… IF you go too low, baking soda… Sneezles61
