Perfect day for brewing

Woke up in the dark, and began my prep work. Enjoyed the calm clear weather as the sky began to lighten and I sparged, hitting all my numbers exactly. Wort began to boil just before the sun peaked over the horizon. That was about 9:30AM.

If only they could all be like this.

gee whiz rebuilt, you should have a pro cam so we could also watch with you… Very envious… My rig is down for a rebuild and I’m itching’ to get it back in use. We have a balmy start to winter and it would be great for more lagers fermenting in the garage! Sneezles61

Nothing better than a beautiful brew day that goes off hitch free. Hoping to get one in soon and hoping it’s similar RC.

Sounds like a great brew day. Brewing tomorrow but I have to get things laid out today. Brewing a German Pilsner and need to pick up some RO water. My burtonized tap water is fine for most styles but not a good pilsner.

Glad you finally got a chance to brew one. I’m not brewing this week my 5 fermenters are full but your post has got me anxious to get another going.

All cleaned up now, and the sun is long gone (3PM). Weather turned rainy around noon as the second batch was boiling. That one came out a couple gravity points lighter than I was aiming for. So not a perfect day, but still pretty spectacular.

Man I’m not sure I could get used to such short days…sun up at 9:30 and long gone by 3:00!

You get used to the short days, just like you do to the long days in June when it never gets dark enough to see stars. And I’m in southern Finland - things get more extreme in the North.

Yesterday I got our Christmas Tree up and lit, ate lunch and went down and mashed in for my Lakefront Bridge Burner Clone from our host. Then I got about 1/4 of my outside Christmas lights up during the mash and throughout the boil. I gave up on the lights with about 20 minutes left on the boil and got to enjoy a beer with this scenery.

I had a moment of panic when I went to pitch the yeast as I couldn’t find my three packs of US-05 that came in my last shipment. Apparently I didn’t get them to the fridge when I took them out of the box and one of my cherubs put the bag with all three in the play food bin in the basement, that one took some searching to find. :joy:

Pitched yeast at end of 1st quarter of Steelers game and then got to watch them stomp the Colts, overall a nearly perfect brewday. :innocent:

:beers:
