I’ve started my first perry using 192oz of Vintner’s Harvest Pear Base in a five gallon batch. Even though it will be good, it seems pricey to me. I live in Minneapolis, and I don’t think pears are a big crop in these parts. Do you have any tips where to get pear juice at reasonable prices? Are prices affected by seasons? Thanks for any thoughts.
Even in MN, you should be able to find good pears for a decent price when they are in season. Keep in mind that some of the dessert varieties will need added tannin.
Some folks mix in some less expensive apple juice.
