Old harvested 1056 or old smack pack of 1056

I have some newer harvested 1056 but I noticed in my fridge that I have a partially inflated smack pack from 5/2011 as well as a pint jar of harvested 1056 from August or Sept of 2011. I hate to throw either away but if you were going to use one, which would you try to build up with a starter?

I could use newer yeast, but I also have some second runnings wort to use up which I use to make starters.

Id use the older stuff and let the newer stuff sit around a while.

The old smack pack should be fine. Make the starter early enough that you can go with Plan B if it doesn’t seem to take off.
