Brewed a Honey Kolsch kit last Sunday. It doesn’t look like I am getting much fermentation, very little foam on top of the beer, and little activity. Should I add more yeast? I used dry yeast. Not sure what to do.
Take a gravity measurement. If it’s lower than the one on Sunday, fermentation is underway. I’ve had fermentations take 4 or 5 days before they look active before.
If the beer is in a cold area, they yeast are a little sluggish. Not a bad thing, just something to note.
Personally I like to ferment in the low 60’s compared to the high 60’s.
So what temp are you at and which yeast are you using?
I would not worry about taking a gravity reading for another week, or more. You have a krausen. So you know fermentation is going on.
