Question- I’m doing some small batch stuff from Northern Brewer just for kicks. The instructions say to steep for 10 minutes as your heating 1.5 gallons of water then bring it to boil. It doesnt specify what temp? Any suggestions? It’s really a small amount of specialty grains, not sure how much exactly, again, it’s for a gallon sized brew.
Add the grains and bring the water to 155* and do your steeping. Make sure you pay attention to temps because if you go over 170* you’ll likely get astringency from the grains. Remove the grains and start your boil.
