NB PM Oatmeal Stout

I was thinking about brewing up a batch of the oatmeal stout from NB and was wondering if the oats come in a separate bag? Reason I ask is that I was thinking of toasting them. I also want to bump up the OG to 1.055 or 1.060. Can I do that by adding a pound of Briess Dark DME without compromising the taste?

If I’m remembering correctly, the oats came separate in my kit. Definitely wish I had toasted mine.

Thanks Ron. I toasted the oats in the JP 11’s ale and it was delicious.
