Moving question

So we are moving on Feb 25th. I brewed an AG Northy 12 the day after Thanksgiving which I was planning on keeping in secondary until at least March 4th. ( the house hunt went much faster than I anticipated) Would you bottle approx 2 weeks early or risk moving the full secondary to the new house?

Thanks for any advice

Joe

I would carefully move the secondary. In fact, when we bought our house 4 yrs ago I did just that.

You don’t want to bottle before it’s ready. Was that a time frame you set, or do you know it’s not ready to bottle?

You can bottle as soon as you have a stable terminal gravity. Your beer will age just as well in the bottle as it will in secondary.

Assuming your batch is done fermenting, bottle away! You can move it in secondary, but you’re really taking some big risks of ruining it. Better to put it in a purged keg, even if you don’t keg yet.

Yeah, I didn’t realize you brewed around Thanksgiving until today. You’re already over two months in the fermenter.

When I moved mine it was only about two weeks. A couple consecutive readings and you should be good to go.

Thanks guys. I’m gonna bottle about a week before we move. That will give me 2 1/2 months in secondary.
