Ok so here is my problem…I made a starter for WL0001 and stepped it up twice…the first step up blew off and i lost some yeast so that why i stepped it up one more time and it blew off again…there is not alot of yeast at the bottle of the growler and i have a feeling that there is not enough yeast…anyway i have half a pack of US05 in the fridge…would it be wise to pitch the starter and add the rest of this us05 pack too?
I can’t think that it is going to harm anthing. Not long ago, I pitched some Lallemand Windsor and it went nowhere. I had a second pack and pitched it and it went nowhere. I waited a day and pitched a pack of US-05 and achieved fermentation. Some how the brown ale I was making actually turned out fantastic. US-05; not only a good yeast in general but a helper in tight spots
Do you think that i can run into any problems considering the pack has been opened?
I guess it would matter on how you stored it. If it were sealed, I probably would not worry.
Before you do any additions, why don’t you pitch what you have made? Unless it’s high gravity, you might be surprised. And even if it is high grav, you still might be surprised.

Yeah thats sounds like a plan…i will just pitch the starter and see if i should add more yeast or not…thank you cheers
Keep us posted. Mike
Just because you had a blow off on your started didn’t mean you lost a bunch of yeast. There is more to the Krausen than yeast.
My thought is you have more than enough yeast from your starter.
US-05 is a similar strain to WY1056/WL001. So no concerns mixing them. Depending on how you handled the dry yeast, yes you could have contaminated it. Just like the blow off could have contaminated the starter.
Now that I have you worried, brew with either/or. You will be fine.
My experience is that yes, it’s quite likely.
