With the possibility of stuck runoffs, is it reasonable to assume that mashing with oats in a muslin bag would work fine? Before running off you could remove the bag so the oats don’t gum up my bazooka screen.
Thoughts? Concerns?

Flaked oats just fall apart in the mash, never had a problem with them clogging the braid. But if you’re worried about it, you could do them in a bag, just be sure to stir them a couple times during the mash.
This is why I asked in the other thread about a braid versus a screen. Oats always seem to gum up my screen, so I thought about putting them in a bag and removing the bag before vorlauf. I’ll give it a try next time. Thanks.
