I agree with ya beersk. I don’t use a pump either, I like to keep it simple and let gravity do its thing. I am all electric though and use a pid with heating elements to maintain mash temp in the cooler and for the boil but I think this makes may brew day even more simple.

I do double batches so I don’t do BIAB, but this winter I plan on giving it a try. Is it true that paint strainer bags work?

They sure do…and they are relatively cheap. I have used them several times. I use 2: One with the stitching on the outside and one with the stitching on the inside.
