Making wine from actual grape juice

Hello all,

I have talked to my LHBS about making wine. They say just buy their juice that they press, drop in a few chemicals and rack occasionally. Can it really be that easy? I don’t think it can be otherwise everyone would do it that way. So I ask you all. Let’s say as an example I would like to make a Riesling, or whatever. LHBS gives me 5 or 6 gallons of pressed juice for said wine. What would I do from there?

If they are pressing the juice for you, its pretty much that easy. The exception would be for deep reds which you are planning on using the skins with. If they are pressing the juice though, you would have to be limited to the varieties of grapes that they have available in the area.
