Loosing the grain dust before mashing

I did a red ale partial mash yesterday and bagged up all the grain in a large nylon bag. I purposely let much of the fine stuff come out on the counter top…probably close to a cup…anyway my OG was a bit low and was wondering if I should have let all that fine stuff go into the mash. I tasted it and it tasted almost like pure DME.

You should have left it in that could be part of the reason for low og

I suspected as much. No big whoop just brew and learn :slight_smile:
