For my next (second) wine kit I am looking at making a Chianti and noticed that there is a liquid yeast strain available from Wyeast. This made me wonder - how many of you seasoned wine makers use liquid yeasts for your wines? Also, what would one use to make a wine yeast starter - would using grape juice from the store be suicidal? Lastly, is there a “Mr Malty” equivalent for calculating the size of wine starters? I’ve tried looking through the forum & web for entries on this topic, but most of what comes up is beer-centric.
