Just brewed a pale ale with lemon zest. Tasted wort seemed a little sharp was zest from 2 medium lemons to much :?: should have mentioned its 6 gal all grain
Welcome to the forum!! I’m guessing the lemon flavor and tartness will mellow out a good bit as your beer ferments and ages. The idea of lemon in a pale ale sounds good to me, I’ll look forward to hearing how it turns out.
Will let you know on the forums first post thanks for the reply
The Wit beer recipe in BCS recommends 1.5 oz of citrus zest. I’ve done that (about two oranges worth) and it isn’t overpowering, and perhaps even a bit too mild. Two lemons should be about right.
Definitely post the results when you taste them.
I,ve done something similar but with lime. I did an xtract ale kit, Liberty cream ale I think, A 5 gallon batch and added two ounces lime juice at end of boil. At secondary I added 1 tbs lime zest…Turned out great. Tank
im slow on my reply but the two lemon zest turned out real good getting better with time
Good to know. Thanks for posting back.
