Is it considered lagering to transfer to a carboy and cold store? I have two lagers that have been in primary about 4 weeks. I do not have open keg space and could transfer to carboys and lager?
Absolutely. Lager means “to store” . With my lagers, after 3-4 weeks in primary I transfer to carboys, set them in swamp coolers to give a greater thermal mass, and move them out to my garage where it stays between 35-40 * this time of year. ‘Ghetto lagering’.
Works for me.
