Lager Yeast Wash

I washed a Hellabock yeast, using the gallon of water in the bucket, rest for 20 minutes, decant back into the gallon container, and then separate the yeast into sanitized mason jars.

This worked well. The yeast floated to the top. Last night, though, I tried doing the same with a Budvar yeast-pilsner. It was late when I poured the yeast/water back into the container, so I went to bed.

This morning, I don’t really see any yeast on top. Just kind of cloudy beer, and then a nice 1 cm thick cake on the bottom. Is the yeast still at the top?
