So used Lactic Acid for the first time today. I know my system really well and am usually within 1 or 2 points of OG. I was 6 points off. ? is can using Lactic Acid effect my mash efficiency? PH was 5.4 normally i am around 5.8.
Your pH was in range.
I do not think Lactic Acid has anything to do with it.
It wasn’t the lactic, we just put a cup of sugar in your mash when you weren’t looking. :lol:

If you went down 6 points there is something else going down.
If you went up 6 points this makes perfect sense as you will tend to see higher efficiency and better break along with many other etc… when you hit the correct mash PH.
