I brewed an nut brown ale extract kit 12 days ago and the krausen shows no sign of dropping to the bottom of the wort. The other kits I’ve made the krausen has seemed to start dropping within 6 or 7 days. Should I be patient or concerned? Thanks for your help.
Sometimes the surface tension doesn’t allow the krausen to drop. A light slosh of the beer will get it to drop.
Or you can rack from under it.
Note that some yeast strains tend to behave this way normally. For example, a krausen from Wyeast 1469 can easily last 3+ weeks and a Wyeast 1272 krausen tends to last a couple weeks.
