Keg Stem as Thermowell?

Has anyone ever used an inverted sanke keg stem as a Thermowell? I just disassembled 2 kegs to convert to keggles. I’ve been debating buying a Thermowell to get better control of fermentation from the I side of my buckets.

With the ball barring keeping a tight seal and all stainless steel (except a rubber cover at the top), I thought it could work but wonder if anyone ever tried it.

Thanks.

Typically a sensor will fit snugly into a thermowell. This wouldn’t be the case with the keg tube.
As long as you made some provision for the sensor to be in contact with the side wall of the tube I imagine it should work.

Ah yes, extremely valid point. I’ll see what I come up with.
