Over the weekend I installed a spigot on a keg that I had converted into a kettle. I brewed a batch of Jamil’s Evil Twin and when the wort was chilled I tried to use the spigot. Unfortunately, the spigot was clogged and I needed to siphon the wort into my carboy manually. I used a false bottom but that didn’t seem to help. The kit came with 4.75 ounces of pellet hops. Will my false bottom prevent the pellet hops sediment from clogging? Where did I go wrong?
What’s the diameter of the pickup tube? I can drain everything, including the pellets, through a 1/2" OD tube. Did you check the valve with water afterwards to see if it’s plugged and with what?
