Is my fermentation normal?

I started my fermentation roughly 16 hours ago and now it looks like the pics below. I used white labs liquid yeast and pitched at 68-70 degrees. This is supposed to be an American Honey Pale Ale. This is only my second batch. But my first fermentation looked nothing like this. Any ideas?

Hard to tell with the glare but looks fine to me.

Yes, hard to tell. It looks like the honey crystalized and is sinking.

Another reason to ferment in buckets.

Amen Brewcat! I take SG samples through the airlock, so the only time I actually look at mine is at bottling time.
Probably will never post a “does this look right” post. There I just jinxed myself

Thanks for the posts! My American Honey Ale is fermenting like a Mo-fo… Airlock is bubbling like crazy, and I have a beautiful 3" head of krausen on top. Very excited for this batch!

Cheers

Sheesh, this isn’t a reason to brew in buckets. Stop ragging on the guy because he’s asking a question…

Looks fine, just let it go. Once I see fermentation start I usually leave mine alone for a while. I always keep an eye on it at first just to make sure fermentation starts, but after that I let it go.

Relax, its a joke. People who ferment in glass are so sensitive or should I say fragile.
