Instead of campden pellets?

this my first Cider, i already got my unpasteurized no additive cider and my local shop dose not have any campden pellets in stock. I put cider in fridge till i can get some. How long do think i can keep in the fridge? Is there something else I could use instead of the campden pellets?

Well, you could buy some Potassium Metabisulfite (PotMet), which is what campden pellets are made from. 1/4 tsp per 5 gallons I think.

I’m guessing you want to use campden pellets to kill wild yeast and bacteria before you add your yeast. FWIW, I skipped adding PotMet to my first few ciders and meads, and I didn’t seem to have any problems with infection. I’m a newbie though, maybe some of the experienced cider makers will say it’s a big a risk.
