Another route would be to find a high quality liquid extract and add at bottleing. I use a quality vanilla extract, no artificial stuff, for my vanilla porter and like it better than beans. I took a 6 oz sample at bottling and added measured amounts of extract until I liked it then just scaled that amount up.
