I purchased a couple of packets of S-189 from another source in November 2010, but haven’t used them. Are they still viable? How long do they last?

They are probably still at least partly viable. Did you have them in the fridge?

Yes, they were in the fridge the day I got them…
From their web site:
I would use at least 2 packs for 1 beer. If you had 3 I would use all of them.
If you had only 1, make a 2 gallon beer. Then reuse the yeast.
Or, for $5 to replace them, just buy new.
