How long can I leave the prior batch's dry hops in the ferme

in the fermentor? I’ve pitched onto a yeast cake, and the prior batch had some dry hops. how long can those old ones be in there without negatively affecting the beer flavor with vegetal/grassy flavors?

Next time put the hops in a bag so you can pull them. Not sure what you will get with those old dry hops mixed in with your yeast cake.

I recently tossed 1 1/2 oz of hops loose into a carboy only to rack the beer to a keg a few days later then pour the next batch in on the yeast cake. That second batch stayed in the carboy about a month and turned out to be one of my best IPAs yet. Perfect process? Probably not. Will I repeat it? Probably not but it worked out fine that time. I wouldn’t sweat it. Either way you’ll learn something.
