So as I’m waiting for a package of hops to show up, it got me thinking… How long can pellet hops be out of the fridge/freezer and still be good (assuming they go in the fridge/freezer as soon as they arrive)? I’m not worried about the 5 or so days–just more curious on how long is too long when ordering hops online rather than buying them at the LHBS?
I would say it takes longer then one would think…first off they are sealed and packed with nitrogen in light proof bags which is good protection from oxidation if i had to put a timeframe i would say packs of hops would go bad without a fridge or freezer in 1 or 2 months but even then might still be usable unless it gets hot…Heat,oxygen,light are hops enemy
