Another new guy question,

I bottled my first batch yesterday. The instructions said to leave an inch of head space. However, when I use the bottling wand or whatever it’s called it leaves more like an inch and a half. Should I have topped of the bottles before capping? I used the oxygen eating bottle caps.

One and a half inches is fine.

you’re good with 1 1/2". Also, try to wait an extra week or two after bottling before sucking down the whole batch!! I found out most beers are better with age. Patience is a virtue!! :cheers:

With the bottling wand, fill right to the top of the bottle.

When you remove the wand, you’ll have your inch of head space.
