Growing hops

Last year I bought some Centennial hop rhizomes from NB. They produced pretty well the first year, and they are looking to be much better this year.

I mostly want to use my homegrown hops for late additions in IPAs and pale ales. Next year I’d like to add another variety to my crop. And I’m wondering, of the available rhizomes, which are the best varieties for IPAs. After looking at what was available for this year, nugget and columbus look promising. Can anyone offer any other/better recommendations?

nugget is mostly a bittering hop due to the high AA.

I like cascade in my IPAs but not sure how well it grows in our region. Check out black hops farm in Lucketts, VA and Organarchy Hops Farm in Maryland. If they can grow it there you should be able to in WV.

edit: just assumed by your username that you’re in WV…

yes, I’m in WV. Thanks for the recommendations.
