Gravity reading for Plinian legacy

Hey all, I’m new to the forum. I had a question about the gravity readings on my double IPA. On brewing day, after I added my brew to the fermenter, I took a gravity reading of 1.061 and while dry hopping today I took another reading and it read 1.015! Is this normal? Seems very low for a double IPA. I’m kind of nervous. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

As I’m doing a little more research here, I’m seeing that a reading of 1.015-1.018 is what is desired. Is this correct? Maybe I’m reading my hydrometer wrong

That sounds about right. Assuming this was an extract batch and you used all your extract and hit the correct volume you would have an OG of 1.070 as the kit says. That’s about 78% apparent attenuation.

I have brewed this kit three times, once AG, twice extract. I used one pack of US-05 for each. My numbers were:

AG
OG 1.069
FG 1.010

Extract
OG 1.070
FG 1.012

OG 1.070
FG 1.015

You are right in the ballpark of where you want to be, well done!

Thanks a lot! I can’t wait to see how it comes out
