First yeast starter

I did my first yeast starter today and I am wondering if I did everything ok. Starter doesn’t look like its doing anything but when I swirl the container it produces a lot of foam. Does that seem like it is working normally? Thanks

Your starter is working fine. You will want to swirl or shake it as often as possible to keep the wort oxygenated for the yeast to continue working.

You will often not see a krausen when a starter is going. Just give it a good swirl as often as you can, and you should be good to go.

You used a pitching rate calculator to determine the proper starter size for your process, right? http://www.mrmalty.com/calc/calc.html

NB gave me a formula to make the yeast starter.

Congrats on your first starter. Welcome to the world of obsessing over microbiology.
