Just tapped a keg a my first lager. After 10 years of ales, I thought I would give it a try. Used NB Helles recipe with dry yeast (34/70). After 6 weeks from start to finish, this beer is wonderful. Very clean taste and crystal clear. I can’t wait to brew another.
Congrats. My lagers have always been better than my ales.
I’ve got a Helles fermenting right now. It’s such a nicer fermentation than the ales I’ve been brewing of late. Nice, slow, controlled, white krausen.
Last year I brewed my first lager in several years using 34/70. I will be using it again.
I really like 34/70. Great lager beers with that one. I rotate between that and WLP 800
Glad to hear this. My NB Helles is in 3rd week of secondary.
