First IPA with yeast questions

Hello-

I an fairly new to home brewing, I have only brewed one and it was a dark cherry stout. I will be brewing my first IPA soon, the Denny’s Wry Smile to be exact. I am brewing the with the extract kit and when I purchased it I was told I needed 3 packages of the Denny’s Fave 50. I am struggling with the need for 3 packages.

Can anyone that has brewed this kit before tell me if this is normal? Do I pitch all 3 packages?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!
Heather

For that beer and that yeast, I normally use one pack to make a 3 qt. starter. If you don’t do that, you will need 3 smack packs. Look at www.mrmalty.com for info on making a starter.

Thanks Denny!

I hate to sound novice here… but I am so… Do I pitch all 3 smack packs at the same time?

I really want to get this right, a rye IPA is one of my faves.

yep, all 3 at once if that’s the route you’re going.
