I made my first batch yesterday and realized I used the 5 gallon carboy for the primary instead of the 6 gallon. Is this going to give me any problems? If so what should I do?
If it is very full, I would put on a blow-off tube. You could sanitize the larger carboy and move the brew, but if there is some head room in the 5 gal, let it be.
o.k. I put a blow off hose on it. How long should I keep it on there?
You can leave it on until you’re ready to bottle, keg, or rack to 2nd.
A blow off tube is one large air lock.
