I’ve had my beer in secondary for close to 6 months now. There is an airlock, but the cat knocked it out for a while. How long can beer be left in secodary? Will it still taste OK? thanks
Don’t know if it will taste okay, but knocking the airlock out for a while probably didn’t impact the beer (as long as the cat didn’t drop a hairball in at the same time, of course).
What kind of beer is it? The shortest answer is that certain styles can benefit greatly from extended aging/secondarying/cellaring. Hop flavor does tend to fade with time, however, there are many styles (barleywines, RIS, biere de garde) that improve drastically after the 6-month mark.
