Fermentation Temperature Control

I recently purchased the A419 Digital Temperature control from NB and have been using it with my 7 foot chest freezer in an attempt to keep my fermentation temperature at 68 degrees. Even with the digital unit, I am getting fairly wide swings in the ambient air temperature inside the chest freezer (i.e., 10 degrees). Based upon the reviews, it seems as though the A419 should be able to maintain a temperature over a much smaller range (i.e., 1 or 2 degrees). Has anyone else had this type of issue with a digital unit? Thanks ahead of time…Robert

Where is your temp senor?

It’s best to measure the fermenting beer. If you don’t have a thermowell, tape the sensor to the side of the fermenter with an old sock or some other insulation over it.
