As of Friday, 7 days after fermentation finally started…most of the yeast has dropped to the bottom…some bubbles still on top and the air lock still burps about 1 time every 45 seconds.
Yesterday I pulled a gravity test and it was at 1.014 and I started at 1.056. Anyone have any experience with this recipe and gravities, is that in the correct range?
No odd smell like vinegar or cider, but not near as strong a beer smell as during active fermentation.
Took a small taste test and there was no odd flavors…just the wonderful taste of flat non carbonated beer.
1.014 should be good to go…We just bottled my house Hefe yesterday and it was at 1.013(range 1.011-1.014 for 4 different batches of this over past 13 mos.)
Although, by the book you should check another SG in about 2-3 days to verify that it is done. Especially since this is your first attempt at this recipe.
