I am about to brew my first beer with liquid yeast (Wyeast) and have been keeping the package in the refrigerator. When I take the package out to adjust to room temperature, should I do the “smack” then, or wait until it has gotten to room temperature and swelled? Thanks!
I just smack them when I take it out, no need to wait.
Either way is fine. It doesn’t really matter. If you’re making a beer over 1.040 OG, I recommend making a starter with the yeast. See mrmalty.com for details.
