Dry yeast and yeast starter

Hey guys, I’m planning on brewing the Empire Builder Imperial Cream Ale tomorrow and I got the Safeale US-05 dry yeast packet along with it. I did also buy the past pitch years starter kit on account of the high OG. But I’m reading that dry yeast doesnt need a starter, is that true? Should I save a my can of fast pitch for another use?

Yes it doesn’t. :sunglasses: I’m not familiar with that brew but if it’s super high i’d probably think about two packs.

Save the fast pitch

Its target OG is 1.074

I would say. 2 packs of dry yeast. Before you pitch. Make a yeast slurry

By slurry you just mean rehydrate in a cup of boiled/cooled water right wilco?

Yes i should had mention that

Anything over 1.060 or so I use two packets or make a starter. Cheap insurance.
