If I take a 5 gallon recipe and double all the ingredients to make a 10 gallon recipe, will it work? I know in cooking or baking it doesn’t work in many instances. I am extract brewing at this time.
Yep, as simple at that. Your boil off rate may change a bit but that is pretty minor.
The boil off rate (gallons per hour) will be just about identical if you use the same pot. Which means if you exactly double everything, you will end up with a bit more than double the wort at the end of the boil. But as you are probably topping up in the fermentor anyway, you won’t need to worry about that.

I actually did this last summer with the “Dead Ringer” extract kit. I evenly divide the wort between two 6.5 gallon carboys and topped off once it was evenly divided between the two. If you’re not using a single fermentor, be sure your carboys are marked for volume.
