D rest and secondary

Brewing my first lager, a Helles, primary going well 48 hours in. Bubbling away at a temp of 52 degrees. Good krausen and so on. My question is this. When I do my d rest towards the end of primary fermentation should I rack it to the secondary immediately after the d rest or lager it in the primary? Forgive my ignorance on the subject. I’m just used to brewing ales. Thanks

Closer to fermentation taste it. If it has the buttery flavor then do your d-rest. However it may not need one. Rack it to secondary after your d-rest and lager away!

+1. What yeast did you use?
Yesterday I took a gravity reading from a pilsner that I brewed two weeks ago with S-34/70 and it will not need a D rest, I just need to rack it some time this week and lager.
