Crush flaked Corn?

Making my cream ale this weekend. First time I’m gonna crush my own grains with this recipe. The flaked corn is already, well flaked. Any incentive to crush it more? The flakes are fairly big.

Thanks!

Should not hurt anything if you do run them through a mill.

I’ve run flaked wheat through the mill, just because.

It won’t hurt to mill it, but it isn’t at all necessary.
I never bother to do so.

I wouldn’t recommend it.

I’ve gummed up my mill running through flaked materials, before. It wouldn’t run, and I had a lot of uncrushed grain left to process. Took a long time to clean and really made for an unhappy brew day.

I’ve just mixed it with the grains, then mill it all at once. Never had a problem.

I run mine through the 2nd crush just to mix them in, not necessary. If you condition your grain, you don’t want to add flaked grains until the 2nd crush.
Really clogs up knurled rollers.
All depends on your method.
