Counterflow chiller

hey guys I finally got my brew cart together, today I did a trial run with water with a15 gal hlt tank 70 qt mash tun
15 gal brew kettle i made a counter flow chiller 25 ft. hose/w 1/4 in copper tubing inside the chiller everything worked great no leaks when I got the boil kettle to boil I ran it through my CFC wow was I surprised temp was 54 deg. so am I ok pitching yeast at this temp thanks

That’s a great temp for pitching yeast for ales. If you brew a lager I suggest cooling wort to mid 40’s before pitching. This allows the yeast to multiply without producing off flavors.
