Clarifying additives

Hello All,

First, Let me say that I’m not too hot on additives period. I kinda like the idea of nothing but malt, hops, yeast and water in my beer.

I am curious though, as to if you add something like biofine to your secondary, does it leave enough yeast behind to bottle condition?

Thanks,

Gonzo

Not sure about biofine. The clarifying agents I’ve used (Knox gelatin, irish moss) have left enough yeast for bottle conditioning.

If you are worried, you can add a few grams of rehydrated dry yeast to the bottling bucket.

I don’t use any additives. I used Irish Moss for the first year or so I brewed. Then stopped and haven’t noticed a difference. I’ve never used gel, biofine, etc. A little cold conditioning will clear up your beers nicely.
