Can i get some chest freezer brand recommendations 7 cu ft…thank you
I am curious why you would be concerned with the brand…are you planning to modify it or something?
I would go with the craigs list brand
In all honesty, you are going to beat the hell out of this thing. If you put the word out there that you are looking for a chest freezer, I would venture to say that within a month, you will have one. So many people move, or don’t use theirs, and if you are ok to pick it up, you can get one very inexpensively.
All that being said, I have a frigidaire that I got for $20 second-hand, and love it. It has gotten my through 20 brews or so, some lagered, sometimes used as a kegerator.
Just take some measurements and ask the seller/giver-awayer to give you the internal measurements. I can fit an ale pail on top of my compressor, and another in the deep part of the inside, along with 2 kegs and a 5# CO2 tank on top of everything. Also have a 7cuft.
+1
I spent some Christmas money on a brand new black chest freezer 14 months ago, for use as a fermentation chamber.
Since then, I have:
- seen it get a decent dent in the top, certainly from one of my daughters’ friends thinking it’d make a great place to sit while watching ping-pong, and
- used it (running) for maybe 7 weeks… in a relatively cool basement. I bet the compressor has < 50hrs on it.
So… I bought NEW, thinking of aesthetics and energy efficiency. I have not gotten my money’s worth, vs. a $20 craigslist score that I could have painted for $5 to look new. Wish I’d spent that $200 on other equipment.
