Hi all, this weekend I made a counterflow chiller. Currently I don’t have a valve on my brew kettle. Will my autosiphon take the heat of boiling temp wort?
If not, what’s the best alternative until I can add a ball valve to my kettle?
If you try to use your autosyphon it will melt. Also, use high temperature tubing - the normal stuff won’t cut it.
Consider installing a weld-less port on your kettle. Another option would be to get a copper or stainless racking cane, and pre-fill the hose with water of sanitizer to start the syphon that way.
Yup, time for a valve. I ran into this situation one time and decided I would not be happy with a ss racking cane.
